Everyday Satchel

I think I’ve been using this bag pretty much every day for the past two months.

Korean summers are brutal. Temperatures regularly go above 35°C, humidity can reach 100%, and during the monsoon season, it can rain for weeks. Then there are typhoons and the absolutely miserable rush-hour commutes.

This bag has been through all of it with me — rain, heat, humidity, and crowded rush hours.

Despite all that, the construction is incredibly solid. The structured design that Popov is known for is much sturdier than I expected.

The leather is excellent as well. Small scratches and signs of use seem to settle into the leather rather than detract from it. Since it’s black leather, most of the smaller marks blend in naturally anyway.

What I particularly like is how the leather develops with use. Even after getting caught in the rain plenty of times, the finish hasn’t lost its character. If anything, the leather has developed a deeper sheen and patina.

Interestingly, the areas that have seen more use actually have a deeper, richer shine than the relatively untouched area above the front clasp, which is partly protected by the flap. It’s one of those bags that seems to look better the more you use it.

After two months, I’m actually more impressed with how it looks now than when it was new.

TMI: It’s a little on the heavy side, which is actually useful when you need to defend your ownership of it from curious women around you.

Overall, a very well-built bag that seems made to age rather than simply wear out.

Excellent quality, the craftsmanship is truly exceptional. If you’re tired of replacing your satchel every year well look no further. This purse will probably outlast me! Bonus point; it’s a Canadian company!

If I could change anything, it would be to make it a half inch longer, and maybe one quarter to one half inch thicker to better fit my tablet, and other things I want to tuck on at the same time.

I wanted to get this for my wife, and when she doesn't want to use it, it fits my Gen 9 iPad and its Smart Keyboard cover perfectly. The weight and thickness of the leather is very impressive, this thing is built like a tank. A very solid bag this is. And Made in Canada!

As advertised, great little everyday satchel. The full grain leather is fragrant and satisfying, lots of character even in the smooth black. Love the finishing touches on the edges. The hyper minimalist brass closure pin was a little annoying to close at first, but after a handful of uses the leather is already loosening and it’s more functional. For me, the strap is a little long— though in the last hole it still fits just right for walking and riding. And I think it would be helpful if the interior divider was actually a pocket as opposed to open at the bottom. Some kind of basic organizer or letting would be nice, but now I’m nitpicking a beautiful streamlined piece. Really nice one overall, Popov!

Absolutely love this bag. It fits well in my growing collection of Popov products - I’m quickly becoming a walking advertisement for this company! This bag is great for taking a book and an iPad to the coffee shop. It looks so great that I’m OK with people commenting on my man purse!

Great leather quality, and size. Sadly the magnet to close the bag is really weak. It is very difficult to keep it closed.

Was purchased as a gift for a family member, he seems to really enjoy it, personally I would rather have had a more secure closing, as I was concerned there wasn’t much to prevent a possible pick pocket situation, while travelling,

The Satchel leather is top quality and excellent, the magnetic fastener in my opinion is a poor quality made in China product that hardly works. Why not source out quality parts to match the satchel build itself. The fastener used before this magnetic one absolutely secured and locked the satchel.

I bought this satchel back in June and haven't gone a single day without carrying it. It is spacious enough to hold all my daily essentials with room to spare, but above all, it is absolutely gorgeous.

At least once a week, someone asks me what brand it is. I proudly tell them it’s from Popov, an indie craft maker in Nelson. I especially love their confidence in not plastering a big logo on the outside—it leaves a clean, timeless finish that gives so much satisfaction as an owner.

I truly hope this brand continues to thrive!

Hi there. I bought the Everday Satchel for my wife Karen and she likes it but has one issue with it.
The satchel is difficult to close with just the button amd the hole. Perhaps there could be another type of latch. The issue is quite prominent when the satchel is not fill. She has to oush hard to get the stud theiugh and that collapses the bag for a bit. This is not a huge complaint about the satchel, but rather a helpful (hopefully) suggestion. Absolutely love the bag. Beautiful, sturdy, and functional.
I just wish there was larger option for a messenger bag; preferably something that could hold a clipboard or a small laptop.
